INTERNATIONAL CLASSES
Course Objective
This is an innovative integration program designed for international students who wish to pursue their higher education at Université Marie et Louis Pasteur (UMLP). These students benefit from a preparatory year at the CLA (YEAR 0), enabling them to acquire the knowledge and skills to enroll in a French-taught bachelor’s degree (YEAR 1, 2, 3).
Students apply for the Classes Internationales and the following Bachelor’s Degree: they are admitted for the full four-year program.

Course Description
YEAR 0 | CLASSES INTERNATIONALES
This preparatory year includes:
- Intensive French language courses from B1 to C1, depending on your language proficiency and on the Bachelor’s Degree you chose (468 hours)
- Disciplinary and methodological courses to facilitate integration into the university (120 hours)
- Immersive activities to help students discover French life and customs
YEAR 1,2,3 | BACHELOR’S DEGREE
Faculty of Sciences and Technology (UFR-ST, located in Besançon): Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Engineering Sciences (Electronics and Automated systems or Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering).
B2 level is required to enter those BSc.
Faculty of Science, Technology, and Industrial Management (UFR-STGI, located in Belfort): Engineering Sciences (Electrical Engineering and Energy Systems or Thermal Power and Energy Systems).
B2 level is required to enter those BSc.
Faculty of Language, Humanities and Social sciences (UFR-SLHS, located in Besançon): Language Sciences, Information and communication.
C1 level is required to enter those BA.
Course Calendar
Courses start the 2nd week of September and finish by mid-June.
Language Entry Requirements
The International Classes are aimed at non-European students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in France, A2 level in French is required to start preparing for the BSs, B1 level in French is required to start preparing for the BA.
Course Content
The preparatory year is made up of different modules :
– a series of mandatory core classes which follow the learning objectives set by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for learning languages).
– a wide range of optional classes to allow you to practice your French while learning about diverse subjects, depending on the Bachelor’s Degree you chose to follow after the Classe Internationale.
Certificates
The following certificates will be given to you at the end of each semester :
• an academic transcript of your courses
• a DUEF diploma (after successful completion of a course level): you must succeed in the required level to enter the Bachelor’s Degree you chose.

University registration fees
University fees are determined by the French government and likely to be modified for the 2027/2028 academic year:
University registration: 178 € (to be paid by credit card or bank check only)
CVEC contribution: 105 €
