Events Organized by the CLA:

International Symposium and Webinar: “Pedagogical Innovation, Technology and Learning Languages”, November 14th and 15th, 2018

This symposium, which took place entirely online, was organized and hosted on November 14th and 15th, 2018 at the CLA in Besançon by the ELLIADD research unit of the Université de Franche-Comté. It was an opportunity to continue a collaboration with the Alsic online journal (Language Learning and Information and Communication Systems) which had been initiated in 2017 with a day-long
seminar/webinar.

The 2018 symposium hosted both guest lectures and talks selected by a committee of Alsic experts. Speakers gave their talks online, without having to be physically present in Besançon. Further information is available on the symposium website.

This symposium and webinar marked both the CLA’s 60th anniversary and the Alsic journal’s 20th anniversary.

"Drôle de langue" ("Funny/Strange Language") Conference by Régine Llorca, September 16th, 2017

This talk given by Régine Llorca, an associate professor at the CLA Université de Franche-Comté, focused on the playful and sometimes unusual aspect of languages: “Things that are logical and obvious for the speakers of one language can seem strange or absurd to foreigners. This presentation will show you strange and funny things about several languages, including French, and will explore the music and movement of speech: the way our voices, hands and words move”. Régine Llorca bases her work on her experience as a dancer and actress. She creates pedagogical video content which focuses on the music of speech and writes and performs comedy shows.

This event was coordinated by Sophie Othman, an associate professor at the CLA Université de Franche-Comté.

Study Days: "A Subject’s Journey between Reading and Writing”, May 21st and 22nd, 2015

These study days focused on literary criticism and the act of writing as well as the back and forth between reading and writing that inspires both how literature is created and how it is analyzed. These elements are at the heart of the writing process through which François Migeot tries to establish a dialogue and sketch out the ways in which these relationships can be theorized.
