Course Description

The CLA’s Summer University offers a training program which will allow you to improve the techniques you specialize in and experiment practical and innovating language teaching strategies. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will discover new pedagogical approaches and share your experience with teachers from all over the world.

– French as a Foreign Language and French as a Second Language teachers
– Teachers who work in French-immersion or bi/multilingual (‘CLIL’) classes
– Educators who train teachers, academic advisors, educational managers
– University teachers who teach French in French language departments abroad.

Content

The CLA offers a wide choice of tailor-made modules :

Pedagogical and training engineering
Developing, managing and teaching a training course.
The methodology of teaching French as a foreign language or French as a second language.
Improve your pedagogical know-how and discover new ways of teaching.

French bi-multilingual teaching
Teaching non-linguistic subjects (DdNL) in French.

Teaching French for specific or academic purposes (FOS / FOU)
Broaden your knowledge by learning about new fields of specialty.

Teaching young learners
Learn to master pedagogical approaches adapted to the needs of children and teenagers and develop suitable material.

Using digital technologies to teach languages
Discover innovative tools and improve the way you teach.

Language, communication and French society
Perfecting your language skills and update what you know about France and francophone countries.

 

 

A series of discussion groups and workshops (at the end of the afternoon) will allow you to explore a variety of themes and meet people involved in French education and culture, our media partners, Radio France Internationale (RFI), TV5MONDE, ‘Le Français dans le Monde’ and major French as a foreign language book publishers.

 

Diploma

You will have the opportunity to prepare the ‘PROForm

University diploma which will certify your skills in teaching French as a foreign and/or as a second language. You must complete 100 hours of training and write a research essay in order to validate this diploma.

Certificate of attendance

A certificate of attendance will be given to you at the end of the course.

The CLA Media Centre

In addition to your courses, the Media Centre offers a large choice of documents to help you learn French. You can relax or work at your own pace with our selection of books, online resources, magazines and CDs. And of course, our staff is always available to help you. Throughout the year, exhibitions and events enliven the Media Centre and allow you to discover more about the world.

Wide Array of Activities

Our Student Activity Service (service culturel) offers a wide range of outings
and events which are great opportunities for language practice. You can find language exchange partners with the tandems linguistiques program, participate in conversation workshops, enjoy concerts, visit museums and exhibitions, go on day trips and scavenger hunts.
